Fantasy Football In Heather’s Home, I-75 Shutdown, Perseverance!

Drivers in the Tulsa area will want to avoid northbound Highway-75 this weekend. Starting Friday at 7:00 P.M. the northbound lanes will be completely shutdown over Interstate-44. Construction crews are replacing the bridge decks over the interstate. This will be the third shutdown in a series of four that will be needed to complete the work. Over the weekend all northbound traffic will be routed on to eastbound I-44. The highway will reopen Monday morning at 5:00 A.M. in time for holiday travel and those who are working that morning.

Max St. Pierre’s perseverance has paid off. The Detroit Tigers have added an awfully happy backup catcher. The 30-year-old rookie was brought up to the big leagues on Wednesday after 14 seasons – spanning 978 games – in the minors. His next at-bat – and manager Jim Leyland promised he’d get one – will be his first in the majors.

”I’m still like dreaming, I feel like,” St. Pierre said in the visitors’ clubhouse at Target Field before Detroit’s game against the Twins. He was taken out of Tuesday’s game with Triple-A Toledo and told of the long-awaited promotion.

He slept for one hour. That was one flight he didn’t want to miss.

About 72 percent of adult mobile phone users say they text, up from 65 percent last year. And about 87 percent of teens say they use their phones to text, a new survey says. Teens text five times more, getting or sending 50 messages a day. Nearly all adults say phones make them feel safer, but most get annoyed by other users.

National Grandparents Month — Here’s some stats from Family Circle:

There are about 56 million grandparents in the U.S.
1.9 million grandparents are responsible for being the sole caretakers for their grandchildren.
8% of all U.S. children live with at least one grandparent.
38% of grandparents say they’d happily look after their grandkids for more than two weeks.

Garlic breath, whether you’re on a date or about to give an important presentation, that strong odor can be hard to get rid of. But now scientists say that there is an easy remedy: Milk. Researchers at Ohio State University have a study in the Journal of Food Science that found both fat-free and whole milk reduced the concentration of the chemicals of garlic that make it smell so strong. Water was the major component of milk responsible for deodorizing the smelly remnants of garlic. Because of the fat content, whole milk worked better than fat-free milk.

Adding milk to garlic before ingesting it was more effective in deodorizing a person’s mouth than drinking milk after eating garlic, the researchers found.

Researcher Kelley Styring found that women carry about four pounds of stuff in their purses. According to her study titled “Your Purse: Archeology Of The American Handbag,” the average female owns 10 bags, but she only uses two or three. Inside the normal purse are 67 items belonging to 10 classifications – money and finance-related, cards and memberships, office supplies, beauty products, IDs, keys and chains, receipts, cell phones, insurance and snacks, gum and drinks. Styring also discovered some pretty bizarre things among the 6,670 items she discovered in the purses of 100 women between the ages of 18 and 64. They include a container of olive oil for good luck and to bless things with, a sales slip from 2001, a plastic cowboy, & loose change weighing more than a pound.
