Kevin’s Ride to Pawhuska

We took a listener’s suggestion on Friday, and my wife and I rode up to Pawhuska to visit the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church building. No, not building… cathedral! It’s a beautiful, ornate building started in 1910.

I called ahead and spoke with Marilyn at the parish office and when we got there, she just gave us a key and said let yourselves in and look around. It’s one of those buildings that you can’t walk into without looking up and gawking at the ceiling- the architecture is just impressive! No way anyone could afford to build this kind of building today… But of course, the stained glass windows are the star.

You’ve never seen colors so vivid! And the detail is just hard to believe. Just exceptional. And as cool as these pictures are, it’s just something you have to see firsthand.

So thanks to our listener for the suggestion, and to the folks at Immaculate Conception for their hospitality… I highly recommend a trip to this beautiful cathedral in the quaint little town of Pawhuska! –Kevin
