We’re in the middle of a remodeling project here at the station. Remodeling is not as… um, tidy, as it seems on “Love It or List It” – my wife’s second favorite TV show. Nor is it as quick. My recollection is that her show is finished and done in 30-60 minutes.
An unexpected problem after leaving the studio and this morning’s show was, where do I sit?
In what seemed like a scene from a TV comedy, I went from conference room to video production room to supply closet before I finally found a place to call my own. Each of those places had been claimed before I begin my search, as it seems that ad hoc office space is, “first come first serve”. It was the 1889 Sooner land rush all over again, and I was NOT the guy with the fastest horse…
In the end, a lobby chair and a coworker’s Netbook were adequate to check my email and update the Morning Show blog.
Wondering aloud (on the assumption that my boss never actually reads this blog), I must admit that maybe I don’t need all the “material” accessories that I believed were necessary in order to do my job? After all, didn’t we manage to communicate long before office desks, computers, ergonomically-designed keyboards, and Koosh balls came along?
I hope to meet you in this space again tomorrow. That is my plan. Assuming nobody gets to the lobby chair before me…
